Homicide in Self Defence
An attorney retained our services to investigate issues surrounding the fatal shooting of a female subject and the wounding of her husband.
The attorney’s Client had been charged with capital murder and aggravated assault. The client admitted that he shot the two subjects but he insisted that the shootings were done in self defense.
The surviving victim told the police that he and his wife were shot without provocation. Along with other issues, we were asked to investigate the background of the surviving victim.
Through our investigation, we were able to provide the defense attorney with information that he used to impeach the surviving shooting victim’s testimony at trial.
The jury heard all of the evidence and found that the shootings were committed in self-defense. The Jury acquitted our client on all charges. He had been facing the death penalty.
The Attorney credits us with finding the evidence required to prove, to the jury, that his client’s account of the shootings was more credible than the victim’s account.
